Restorative Services

Restorative services help to restore the integrity of your teeth, and stop the damage from spreading further. The x-rays taken and the examination done during your regular cleaning appointment allows Dr. Paventy to access the health of your teeth and determine the need for intervention. The most common restorative service needed is a filling. During a filling, the Dr. removes the tooth decay and fills the space (usually) with a composite resin filling. Gold and silver fillings do not expand and contract with the tooth during exposure to cold or heat. This can sometimes allow foreign matter such as food and bacteria to wedge itself under the filling causing decay to develop. Composite resin fillings however, have the ability to expand and contract with the tooth creating a better seal and a more permanent solution to stop tooth decay.

In addition, composite resin fillings are the color of your tooth and cannot be seen the way a gold or silver filling can. Another common restorative service is a crown. A crown can often help save a tooth whose integrity is weakened. Crowns cover the tooth, and can bring back stability and integrity. The health of your mouth is of the upmost importance to us.
